Shoshana Zuboff's book, 'The Age of Surveillance Capitalism' also discusses this new emerging religion of dataism where those in the world of information technology think that everything can be based on data decision making - this is fantasy. Although it is definitely beneficial, the intuitive instincts that managers make decisions on will still remain and never be fully replaced. I can understand Desmet's rush to finish his book but I think more context will need to be laid out. These chronic left-brain dominant ideologies, scientism and by extension transhumanism, needs to be dismantled in a succinct way.
